Session 4 confirmed that The Record Club is slowly finding its identity: less a traditional listening party, more a gathering of passionate music obsessives sharing discoveries, memories, references and unexpected connections.
The evening moved through a playlist mixing post-punk, slowcore, indie rock and dreamier atmospheres. As always, the discussion quickly expanded beyond the playlist itself. References flew from The Smiths to The Ukrainians reinterpretation, from Wedding Present covers of Pavement to forgotten treasures from the French indie scene.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of the session was the balance between expertise and spontaneity: most participants brought decades of record collecting experience, but still, some openly admitted discovering certain artists only days before. The result was exactly what The Record Club aims to encourage, curiosity without pretension.
The chat remained lively throughout the evening, with recommendations, YouTube links, memories of past concerts and discussions about artists ranging from Chelsea to Robert Lester Folsom. Grandaddy emerged as one of the evening’s highlights, while several participants left with a growing list of records to revisit.
By the end, the atmosphere felt less like an online meeting and more like a group of old friends comparing notes after years spent exploring parallel musical universes.
Speakers of Session 4: Dominique, Isabelle, Jimmy, Laurent, Olivier, Stéphane, Tof.
