The Soft Moon, Tribute, Feb24

IMG_7975The Grauzone festival in The Hague gently asked everyone for a minute of silence as a tribute to the immense Luis Vasquez, recently dying of a Fentanyl overdose in Los Angeles. Luis death is shocking. Not only because we saw The Soft Moon live everywhere we were, Paris, The Netherlands, Switzerland, but also because our alternative rock generation has not so much been touched by sudden death of our rock stars, not like in the 70’s with Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and so on. Perhaps the last real shocking death in our type of music was back in 1994, 30 years ago, with Kurt Cobain. So yes there was the death of the singers of INXS, Linkin Park, Soungarden, but they were a bit apart from the music we really love. The Grauzone festival had the great idea of letting everyone write something in a book to be delivered to Luis’ wife. It meant a bit of closure for all of us, fans of The Soft Moon. Thanks Natasja, the Grauzone festival Manager, for organising this tribute.
