My Bloody Valentine “Isn’t Anything” (1988)

This is just the most important album of my vinyl collection, no less. My first glimpse of likeable music was Police or Bob Marley in the car of my parents in the 70’s and disco that one of my aunt liked very much and listened to on her radio at home. Then I started collecting music (in 1984, I was 11 year old), mostly The Cure, U2, Simple Minds and other mainstream new wave bands. I missed the Joy Division / punk revolution, and The Jesus & Mary Chain “Psychocandy” (the first shoegaze album ever!), mostly because they were not popular in France at the time and didn’t reach the local media, even in import mode at our French countryside small city record dealers. But when in 1988 a friend gave me a shitty K7 copy of “Isn”t anything” it did litteraly blow my mind and definitively changed the way I was looking at and listening to music. Since then I am an indie rock / shoegaze addict, thanks My Bloody Valentine!
