Jimi Hendrix “Monterey Festival” (1970)

It’s strange, almost surreal, to find Jimi Hendrix and Otis Redding sharing space on the same album—two completely different worlds. And yet, here it is. Maybe it’s a product of the wild creativity (or randomness) of 20th-century record labels.

Still, this album is worth it for one thing alone: the raw, electrifying live cover of Wild Thing from 1967. That performance feels like the true beginning of rock as we know it—stripped down, unfiltered, full of fire. Just pure, untamed energy.
